Margaret completed an eight year term as Auditor-General for NSW in 2024. In that role she supported the Parliament to hold government to account for appropriate financial and performance management. She received a public service medal for her contribution to the integrity of the NSW public sector. She was also invited to present the 2023 Garron Oration.
Margaret continues to contribute to public sector management by providing independent assurance services, conducting reviews, the provision of leadership advice and as a chair and director of boards. She is currently the Chair of the ATO ARC, the Independent Monitor of the VCE exams, a member of the ARC for Uniting Vic/Tas and is completing a review for Services Australia.
Prior to appointment as the Auditor General for NSW Margaret had a track record of success in a range of public sector roles at all three levels of government and diverse sectors such as sport and recreation, gaming regulation, transport management, local council service delivery, tax administration and housing and homelessness services.
Outside work, Margaret continues to be involved in the administration of hockey as a life member of the MCC Hockey Section, and she played hockey for ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵwhen she was a graduate student.
