The University Executive (UE) Committee is the principal management committee of the University.
Objective
1. The UE is responsible for advising the Vice-Chancellor on matters relating to University strategy, management and administration. Its remit includes preparation of the University’s strategic plan and the annual University budget. UE monitors performance against plans and budgets, the University’s capital program and major projects.
Authority
2. The UE serves as an advisory board to the Vice-Chancellor, receiving information & data, discussing key matters, and making recommendations. These recommendations represent collective advice to the Vice-Chancellor and are recorded to inform and support the execution of the Vice-Chancellor’s duties.
3. Individual members of the UE, in their respective roles, may hold delegated authority for specific functional areas in accordance with the University’s delegation framework.
4. The UE may exercise functions assigned to it by the Vice-Chancellor, only pursuant to an explicit delegation of authority in accordance with Section 66 of the Australian National University (Governance) Statute 2024.
Role of the University Executive
5. The UE will, as appropriate:
5.1. advise and make recommendations to the Vice-Chancellor in support of the execution of their duties;
5.2. develop, monitor and review the University’s strategies, plans and budgets;
5.3. monitor and advise on Portfolio and College strategies, plans and performance;
5.4. 5.4. oversee University performance, risk and resource allocation; and
5.5. ensure alignment across the University in relation to these areas.
6. The UE can establish Standing and Special Committees, as required, to further support its functions.
