Here are some of the exciting activities and sessions happening at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵCommunity Day, Saturday 15 August. This community celebration brings the Kambri precinct to life with interactive workshops, exhibitions, presentations, music, face painting, and real scientific projects, alongside works from ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵstudent artists and musicians. There’ll be food trucks and fun activities for all ages, so bring the family, wander campus, and meet the people and ideas that have shaped the nation. Come celebrate 80 years together. Everyone is welcome.

10am-4pm, Marie Reay Teaching Centre, Kambri precinct

Curiosity Unleashed

Wander into the Marie Reay Teaching Centre in Kambri between 10am–4pm and you’ll find displays and exhibits from every corner of the University and beyond. Curiosity Unleashed has something to amaze you at every turn.  

You'll find:

  • live science shows
  • games and puzzles
  • interactive exhibits
  • animals up close 
  • face painting 
  • local art for sale 
  • and holographic chocolate!

10am-4pm, Lowitja O’Donoghue Cultural Centre Kambri precinct

Discovery Zone 

From 10am–4pm at the Lowitja O’Donoghue Cultural Centre in the Kambri precinct, researchers and artists share the stage. Hear talks, step into immersive experiences and watch ideas cross from one discipline into another.

  • dive deep into history, politics and science
  • journey through the universe
  • meet our best and brightest at The Visionaries Among Us.
Vibrant vibe of the Joplin Lane

10am–4pm, Joplin Lane, Kambri precinct

Joplin Lane

Grab a bite, catch live music from students and staff, then try a Bollywood-inspired workout or Chinese calligraphy class at the College of Asia and the Pacific's (CAP) 'Culture Corner', offering a full day of multicultural experiences. Still got energy? There's a games arcade, Shop ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵand a rocket to fire. Welcome to Joplin Lane.

Community Day bus

Our buses, Molly and Nugget, will be running circuits around the campus and dropping visitors off at important locations to enjoy more ANU Community Day attractions around the campus.

Bus stops include: 

University House

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵSchool of Art and Design, FUSE Glass Prize 2026 exhibit

Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF) tours, ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵDepartment of Nuclear Physics

The circuit takes about 25 minutes to  complete, and the bus will pass through each stop every 10-15 minutes.

The Visionaries Among Us 

Hosted by ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵalumni and science communicators Lee Constable and Dr Weliton Menario Costa (WELI), Visionaries Among Us brings together leading ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵresearchers working on artificial intelligence, astrophysics and Australia's deep history, from its ancient past to its possible futures.
