Specific examination arrangements

The University provides Specific Examination Arrangements (SEAs) to support students with disabilities, long-term or short-term health conditions, and caring responsibilities. Separate assessment arrangements may also be available to eligible students from language backgrounds other than English.

Students with a disability or health condition

Specific Examination Arrangements (SEAs) are designed to support students with disabilities, long-term or short-term health conditions, and caring responsibilities.

Arrangements are determined in consultation with Accessibility and documented in the student's Education Access Plan (EAP). Depending on individual needs, approved arrangements may include:

  • Additional examination time
  • Rest breaks during examinations
  • Alternative examination formats, such as large-print papers
  • Access to assistive technology or alternative examination venues.

How to apply

Students should register with Accessibility as early as possible to discuss their needs and establish an Education Access Plan (EAP). Appointments may take at least two weeks to arrange, particularly during peak examination periods.

For centrally administered examinations, students must have their EAP finalised by the published deadline to guarantee that approved adjustments are incorporated into their examination arrangements.

If an EAP is finalised after the deadline, students must contact the Examinations Office at examinations.officer@anu.edu.au. Late arrangements are subject to venue availability and sufficient processing time, generally requiring at least two working days' notice, and cannot be guaranteed.

For examinations administered by Academic Colleges, students must contact their course convenor at least two weeks before the examination to discuss their approved arrangements.
