After you accept your PhD or MPhil offer of admission, you can take action to finalise your enrolment.
You must complete the steps below before you can be enrolled. International candidates can only complete the below steps with a valid visa grant.
Step 1
Decide your commencement date
Discuss your commencement with your supervisor and decide on a start date that falls within the commencement range for the admit term you were offered. Your offer letter specifies your admit term; the commencement date ranges are below.

If you cannot begin your program within the commencement period required by your admit term, please contact hdr.admissions@anu.edu.au to request a change of admit term and specify which admit term you wish to change to. Ensure you have discussed the change of admit term with your supervisor before sending the request through. If approved, you will receive a new offer of admission.
Step 2
Email your enrolment documents to the Graduate Research School
Contact hdr.candidature@anu.edu.au to advise that you are finalising your enrolment. Your email must contain your completed . If you are a Joint/Dual/CoTutelle candidate, please use the .
If you are a scholarship holder and you have an eligible Australian Bank Account, also provide your .
If you are an international candidate or Permanent Resident, your email must contain a colour scan of your current passport and visa grant. Most candidates enrol with a Student 500 visa. You may also enrol with a bridging visa or other type of visa, so long as there are no study limitations.
Step 3
Wait for your enrolment to be processed
HDR enrolment is prioritised by commencement date and subject to .
Please ensure you provide your enrolment documentation prior to your commencement date, or you may experience delays with your enrolment and scholarship activation.
When providing your enrolment documentation ahead of time, your enrolment may not be processed until closer to your commencement date. If you have any questions about your enrolment timeline, please email hdr.candidature@anu.edu.au.
After your enrolment is processed, you will receive an email confirming the next steps.
Step 4
Obtain your student card and access to systems
Once your enrolment has been processed, you can obtain a student card. This process is managed by Student Central, please review the webpage for requirements and FAQs.
ANUHub is your online student hub. Here you manage your program, manage your milestones, update your personal details, and will receive invoices to pay any fees after you commence. You need to complete the Task Wizard in ANUHub to progress to view your enrolment and program details. If you are required to complete compulsory coursework units as part of your program, you will need to complete an enrolment change eForm. This can be found in Main Menu (compass in top-right hand corner of screen) > Navigation > ANUHub> Degree Management > Manage my Degree.
All HDR candidates, including those holding a scholarship, need to pay the Services and Amenities (SA) Fee. You will receive an invoice for this fee and tuition fees (if applicable) in your . Ensure that you pay by the due date on the invoice to retain access to the University services and your online accounts.
