Conferring of Award(s)
Conferring of Award(s) refers to an administrative process in which a student is officially awarded any Testamur(s) they are eligible to receive and becomes an ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵGraduate.
Please note: The conferral of an ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵaward is a matter of public record. This information will be available through Graduate Search in accordance with the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ
Conferral Round - December 2026
The conferral date for Semester 2, 2026 is 21 December 2026.
You may be eligible for conferral if you have:
- met all academic requirements for your program; and
- settled all outstanding obligations with ANU.
If you are completing your final courses in Semester 2, 2026, you may be conditionally approved for conferral. Your final eligibility will be confirmed after your results are released. Results for spring courses may not be available in time for the upcoming December conferral round.
If you are unsure whether you have completed your program requirements, contact ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵStudent Hubs for advice.
Please note: Postgraduate students completing a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma should seek academic advice before graduating. Transferring to a Masters is a straightforward application with no fee and credit can be requested at the same time. Conferring a lower award may affect credit applied to the new academic program. Please seek academic advice from ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵStudent Hubs prior to conferral if you intend to continue study.
Potential Graduands
A potential graduand is a student who ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵhas identified as potentially meeting the academic requirements to have their award conferred in an upcoming conferral round.
Being identified as a potential graduand does not guarantee conferral. Your eligibility will still need to be assessed and confirmed before your award can be conferred.
You will be notified via your ANUHub Message Board if you have been identified as a potential graduand. The message will appear in ANUHub on 23 October for the upcoming December conferral round.
HDR students and students who have previously deferred their Conferral will not see the Potential Graduand message in ANUHub.
Preliminary Eligibility
Your academic eligibility status will be one of the following:
| Approved | You have met all of the requirements for your award/s. |
| Conditionally Approved | Your eligibility for conferral depends on successfully completing your courses in the current semester or session. Your status may change to Not Eligible if, for example:
Your final eligibility will be confirmed after your current semester or session results are released. |
| Not Eligible | You have not met the requirements for conferral in the upcoming conferral round. If you believe your eligibility status is incorrect, contact ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵStudent Hubs immediately for advice and support. |
Conferral Notification
If you have been assessed as 'Approved' or 'Conditionally Approved' to confer in the upcoming Conferral round, you will receive a Conferral Notification via your ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵemail account from the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵConferrals Office on 28 October 2026.
You can also view your academic eligibility status for the upcoming December Conferral Round in the Graduation Status section of the Graduation Details Panel in your ANUHub account.
It is strongly recommended that you read the Conferral Notification carefully, as it contains all relevant information and instructions regarding the conferral process.
Final Eligibility to Confer
Your final academic eligibility status will be viewable in ANUHub from 9am, 15 December 2026.
| Eligible | You have met the requirements for your award/s. Congratulations! Please note, you are not a graduate of the University until the day Award/s are conferred. |
| Not Eligible | You have not met the requirements for your award/s and will not confer in the current Conferral round. If you are not eligible to confer due to late or unresolved grades, you will not be able to confer in the current round. If you are appealing a fail result, you will not be permitted to confer unless the appeal is resolved at least seven days before the Conferral date. If you believe your eligibility status is incorrect, contact ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵStudent Hubs immediately for advice and support. |
Graduation Ceremony Communications
The conferral process is separate from the Graduation Ceremony, which is a celebration for students whose awards have been conferred during the year.
Students who have conferred during the year will receive separate communications with details about the upcoming Graduation Ceremony and how to register to attend.
